Region: Goriska Brda, Slovenia.
Alc.: 13 % vol.
Volume: 750 ml.
Grape variety: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot.
Maceration 3 weeks in contact with skins and seeds in a stainless steel container. Gentle compression with a pneumatic press. Wine is fermented with the natural grapes yeast and matured in oak barrique for 12 months.
The wine is of a bright ruby red colour. The bouquet is fruity, with a dominant aroma of red fruits, yet also grassy and slightly spicy. It the mouth the wine proves to be of a medium body, harmonious tannins, moderate alcohols and lively acidity which emphasizes its drinkability. The mineral aftertaste gives moderate spiciness the opportunity to come to the foreground.
The Erzetič Don is a wine which goes well with a tartar steak, beef carpaccio, English beef steak or any red meat which retains its primordial 'bloody' flavours. It is also recommended to be served next to black pudding and other pork sausages, Florentine steak, grilled tuna dishes, pizzas, pasta with tomato sauce, cooked beef. Serving temperature:16 - 18 °C.
